INTERIOR PAINTING PROCESS
When painting the interior of a house, it is essential to take every measure to ensure that the home will maintain its new look for an extended period of time. Below is the step-by-step procedure that we go through at Priority Painting to achieve this goal.
1. Protection of home & property.
Before any paint is placed on the walls, it is important that all furniture is moved away from the walls, electrical faceplates are removed, furniture is covered with painters plastic and the floors are covered with drop sheets. We will mask any hardware that cannot be removed.
2. Preparation.
All nails will be removed, holes will be repaired, and we patch any wall or trim imperfections. An overall sanding of the walls is done to ensure a smooth finish. We caulk and fill all baseboards, window and door casings, crown moldings, and any trim as needed.
3. Painting.
After the home is completely prepped, we are ready to apply the paint. It is important to choose the proper "sheen" with the desired colour. Typically for interior painting, the sheen of paint used on ceilings is a flat finish, for the trim we use a satin or semigloss, and we apply a matte or an eggshell to the walls.
4. Inspection.
We will carefully inspect our work and do a thorough walk-thru with you to make sure you are completely satisfied with the job.
5. Cleanup.
We will cleanup every day and upon completion of the project.
Empty paint cans are recycled and supplies are neatly stored or removed.
Touch-up paint is labeled and left with the customer.
